尤金．古森斯爵士（1893-1962）出身名門音樂世家，曾在英國皇家音樂院隨名師史丹佛學作曲。卒業後他先從皇后廳管弦樂團小提琴手起家，接著擔任指揮大師畢勤的助手。獨當一面之後，古森斯陸續出任羅徹斯特愛樂、辛辛那提交響樂團、雪梨交響樂團的音樂總監，也當過新南威爾斯音樂院的院長。他其實也是一位優秀作曲家，曲風偏向印象主義，可惜未獲廣泛知名度。來過台北數次的長笛家蘇珊．米蘭女士，是英國皇家愛樂管弦樂團有史以來第一位女性部門首席。她現任英國皇家音樂院教授，也為著名樂譜出版商做十九世紀長笛曲目專案研究。本輯五曲都是她從古森斯作品之中，精挑細選有長笛參與的美麗室內樂，無論寫情寫景都讓高品味愛樂者陶醉不已！
