《If I were a Carpenter》是A&M公司在1994年发行的一张纪念他们旗下的这只王牌组合的专辑，汇集了十几支摇滚乐队，对这个兄妹乐队致敬。尽管翻唱得面目全非，却极具创意。
提起Carpenter,100%的人会第一反应：Yesterday Once more,Redd Kross在专辑中的翻唱采取了轻Hard Rock的演绎方式，放肆的配器加上放肆的演唱，令人听得手舞足蹈；另一首出色的歌是“Rainy Days and Mondays”,这次Crakcer用了Jazz,恰到好处的小鼓和着吉它，更衬托出男歌手的柔情慢板演绎的销魂；The Cranberries的“Close to You”老老实实按原作处理，只是在结尾时加了几个回旋音，用来表明身份；整张唱片的最优秀的部分，我认为是地下乐队的老大Sonic Youth的“Superstar”。全章由噪音开场，但第一个单音符响起的时候，你只能从这个清澈如泉水的音中想起一个名字：Karen。可Sonic Youth却不给我们任何作好梦的机会，主唱的声音颓废而低靡，非要把速度降低和把吐字变浊，方能显示出Karen在现今生活中的意义：清纯的岁月已经离我们远去，或者它根本就是个梦！从第二节开始，吉它、主音和噪声就纠缠在一起，分也分不开，撕扯着你的心。全曲终结在一片迷茫的杂音之中，令我呆呆地坐了很久，好象一口气喝了半斤烈酒，已不知身在何处了。
我很早就知道这张专辑，虽然现在找到专辑了，但是我并没有找到每首曲子的演绎乐队的艺人的名字。如果有朋友能找到的话，先谢谢，帮忙帖上。
最后特别提醒那些真正喜欢卡朋特的朋友，这张专辑或许并不适合你收藏。但是听的时候千万别说他们不好听，或者说那些人不会唱歌。
