Spear were formed by frontman Kirk Brandon from the ashes of his previous band Theatre Of Hate. The band soon signed to CBS records and released the seminal album "The Grapes Of Wrath" in 1983. "Live At The Hacienda" features the band at the height of their powers, playing a full live set at Manchester's world famous Hacienda club in 1983. Amongst the tracks featured are the band's first single "The Flying Scotsman" and UK chart hit "The Wheel". Bonus footage features a fascinating, recently filmed interview with Kirk Brandon, discussing his entire career, and a photo gallery featuring a collection of images of the band from their early days.
Legendary goth rockers Spear of Destiny were controversial mainstays of underground rock from 1983-1997. Formed by Theater of Hate frontman Kirk Brandon, they took their name from the spear used to pierce Christ on the cross and which is said in some circles to have passed through the hands of Attila the Hun, Napoleon, and Hitler. Critical backlash was prevalent for this reason, but they still made a name for themselves and developed a following with their seminal 1983 album THE GRAPES OF WRATH, released on CBS Records. The album was characterized by the social awareness of Brandon's lyrics and the dark, powerful mayhem of the music. LIVE AT THE HACIENDA features footage from a performance at the legendary Hacienda Club in Manchester in 1983; the band plays their UK chart hit "The Wheel" as well as their first single, "The Flying Scotsman." A bonus interview with Kirk Brandon, who is known for his alleged affair with Boy George and subsequent litigation, was filmed toward the end of his career, and provides an intimate look back over its course.
