Matt Joe Gow and the Dead Leaves are an Australian Alternative Country / rock band. The band formed in 2007, and since 2008 their line-up has consisted of vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Matt Joe Gow, guitarist Andrew Pollock, bassist Kain Borlase and drummer Joel Witenberg.
Though Joe Gow and Borlase were born in New Zealand, the band currently reside in Melbourne, Australia.
After spending 2007 doing shows across Melbourne and supporting Pete Murray‘s Summer at Eureka Tour across Victoria, their breakthrough came in 2008 when they were signed to Liberation Music.
Entering Sing Sing Studios in Richmond, they recorded their debut album ‘The Messenger’, due for release through Liberation Music in July 2009. Produced by Nash Chambers, the album features instrumental contributions from Jim Moginie and Bill Chambers.
