Toronto pianist Joe Sealy and bassist Paul Novotny have worked together for two decades. Considering that time together, this duo plays intuitively and creatively, qualities you can hear throughout the beautiful Blue Jade project. The collection of seven originals and two standards - the opening track "Alone Together" and the closing piece "Someone to Watch over Me" - showcase some of the best ensemble players working with Sealy and Novotny, including Phil Dwyer on tenor and alto saxophones, Rob Piltch on guitars and Don Thompson on vibes. A wonderful contrast of hot and cool sounds emerges here.
