X Makeena is a hybrid entity situated on the breaches of drum and bass, hip-hop and dub. Stef and Nico's powerful and disintegrated instrumental concoction, added to the hyperactivity of Vicking's and Says' vocal chords and the frenzied gesticulations of Karlton the dancer, make up this explosive formation. Their first album Death on the wax released in 2004 (Foutadawa) is a perfect illustration of the band's originality.
X Makeena's mutancy is best revealed on stage where dark and wild creatures progressively contaminate the public, leading to a collective frenzy. After a first tour around Brittany (Transmusicales 2003, Panoramas, Astropolis 2004), X Makeena then continued on to Paris, Lille, Bordeaux, Lyon playing alongside Asian Dub sound system, Erik Truffaz, Ez3kiel, High tone… Their last performances at the Vieilles Charrues in 2004 and at the festival of Musiques Emergentes of Quebec and Toronto, further confirm the band's talent. In 2005 they are expected in Norway and China.
Winner of the Fair 2005 and of the Monte Charge of the Fédurock, the band is actively supported by ATM (Trans, UBU) and is scheduled for the Transmusicales 2004, following the Beastie Boys.
