Having started as a VHS and CD compilation back in 1996 with artists like CREMATORY, SENTENCED and LACRIMOSA, "Beauty In Darkness" was originally targeted to the Gothic audience and its mixture of gloomy rock songs and atmospheric metal tracks turned out to be the right choice to keep such audience thrilled and hanging on. Soon enough though a huge fan base was established, often crossing beyond the Gothic boundaries.
In 2000, "Beauty In Darkness Vol. 4" was released on DVD for the very first time, and it featured great videos from acts such as DANZIG, MOONSPELL, NIGHTWISH or CRADLE OF FILTH. The new format gathered high acceptance and soon it was time to release a "Beauty In Darkness Classics" DVD in 2002 with a selection of the best clips from the first three volumes, only available on VHS thus far.
With prosperous effect, the current "Beauty In Darkness 7" has reached a new climax in the compilation's history: Never before a DVD has featured so many high quality and up-to-date clips than this one.
