The Dookie Squad met at School in 1988. BDP had just releases By All Means Necessary and National Fresh was playing all the latest Hip Hop on Radio 1 courtesy of Jeff Young. Education to us was rhyming and beat box at the back of the classroom. Dook Tha Looper was taking samples from the finest rare funk grooves of the 60’s and 70’s and recording them into his tape deck using the pause button to loop the samples whilst Mr. Memory and Alikazam were writing rhymes to these loops.
At the age of 16 Dook Tha Looper saved his hard earned paper round money to purchase a state of the art Akai Sampler X7000 and Atari ST. The first serious project for The Dookie Squad was from Alikazam’s idea of using the Jaws Soundtrack theme and the 6ft Under EP was born.
The Dookie Squad have continued to produce tracks all the way through from 1989 to today, concentrating on enhancing production and lyrical techniques
