"Diez a?os de espíritu Jabalina" ("Ten years of Jabalina Spirit") is Jabalina's new 2-CD compilation, released to celebrate our first ten years. It's also the beginning of a new series of theme compilations entitled "Teoría y Práctica Melódica" ("Theory and Practice of Melody"), the aim of which is to compile any isolated projects which can not be developed individually, and which are united by a certain thematic thread. As an inheritance of the previous "Mascotas" and "El Sol sale para todos", it's also an opportunity to offer a general view of the label's artists' work at the moment. But they are also intended as a sampler of the label's artists' latest work, filtered through an unorthodox palette of different musical areas such as country, jazz, bossa, or surf. in which they will explore the relationship of these styles and pop music, as pop is our reason for being here.
But first, let's focus on the series' first release: as it's conceived as a celebration of our history, it had to be a picture of how we view these first ten years. So that's what it is, in fact. "Ten years of Jabalina Spirit" is the best title we could imagine, and it consists on a view of what's been done, but also a look at the future. That's why you'll find not only a diversity of bands and styles - the ones which define us as a label and as music lovers - but also a meeting point for past and future, which is reflected on the record's concept, which in fact is divided into two different discs: "Devenir" ("What's been done", a 17-song collection of the best songs we've released, including some hard-to-find ones) and "Porvenir" ("What's to come", 10 rare or unreleased songs by our most important and promising bands).
The main features of "10 a?os de espíritu Jabalina" are:
- Seventeen bands: 6 which belong to the past (Iluminados, Alias Galor, Loopside, Jonipai, Cassino and Dar Ful Ful), 7 which belong to the present (Humanoid, Souvenir, Polar, Zipi Zape, The Yellow Melodies, Ama and Zola) and 4 new bands (Apenino, Portonovo, Lou Anne and Piano).
- Twenty-seven songs: 10 of them unreleased, pre-releases or rarities by Dar Ful Ful, Souvenir, Polar, Ama, Zola, Humanoid, Apenino, Portonovo, Lou Anne and Piano.
- 100 minutes of music "made in Jabalina" in two CDs (Devenir and Porvenir).
