"All the cold in the world", Nadadora’s first album, is a meticulous record, a work of pop craftmanship in its aim of reaching the best mood for each song. The songs transmit emotion and intensity thanks to their passionate melodies and an infallible formula: guitar-ridden pop in washes of varying intensity, on which the voices of Sara and Gonzalo -altogether or separately- surf skillfully. Nevertheless, we cannot limit the secret of Nadadora’s charm just to that: the record’s energy and wealth of brilliant arrangements also plays an important part. This is why “Todo el frío del mundo” is a record which grows on the listener.
This is their first full-length album after their successful mini CD “Aventuras dentro de cajas” (Aug 2004) and it confirms the band as a solid project and not just the revelation which they were last year (they reached the finals of the Proyecto Demo 2004 competition).
The charm of “Todo el frío del mundo” soaks through the listener. Not that this means the record’s mood is that of rainy days… in fact, it’s more appropriate to talk about different microclimates which temper the listener’s heart in his journey across a variety of landscapes (like the ones in Galicia, their homeland) which are simultaneously familiar and magical, unreal and personal, thanks to the band’s craft and the help from producer Arturo Vaquero.
The record’s magical realism is based on a credible work, as this is a collection of songs which comes from the soul. “Todo el frío del mundo” is full of deep feelings of melancholia and spirituality as songs like “Su primer contacto con el aire”, “Incendio #3” or “Siempre te alejas en las tardes” prove. Other tracks exhibit their characteristically infectious touch: “20000 veces”, “Fugaz”… in “O noso espazo”, Nadadora pay homage to their homeland’s language, Galician, and Sara’s voice reaches unexpected heights. All in all, this is a truly personal record from a band which has acquired a surprisingly distinctive own voice in a short period of time.
