fantastic other worldly zonk-fest. has the feel of hitchhiking down highway 1 stoned out of your gourd with the waves and ocean washing over you, a soundtrack for your movie, with whistling, children singing, echoing trumpets sitar buzz and serious drum kit abuse. amazing unpredictable WILD lp that somehow avoids cliches and manages to sound both like a kraut rock obscurity and a righteous san fran lost rock album. i used to not be totally down with the more jam-oriented "3 Songs" but the more i listen to it, it fits the whole vibe, and is a good change of color from the more ambient side 1, the feel is so off the wall and who-gives-a-fuck, it blows my mind when they go from the organ led hippie-crime-jazz ditty into the melancholia tinged breakdown which features an instrument that at first i thought was wordless scat singing, then a trumpet, then a flute, and i finally decided that no matter what it was it reminded me of a lost sea creature crying for a loved one. "Old Englishhh" is a final jazzy mellow psychonautic touchdown before this group is lost permanently somewhere in the milky way. has serious zonk written all over this, almost like a band made out of wayward pranksters. you can tell some conciousness's were severely warped in the years of this production, and feels like the crest of a great era in mind expansion and people brimming with new ideas and flavors of existence. from UndergroundAlbums.com: "According to the recent Airplane bio, this group was led by a guy named Reality "D" Blipcrotch, and he demanded that, among other things, the LP labels on this release should fold out into a life-size poster of his own likeness." totally underrated and essential listening.
one and only album by USA psych-pop band 'I' (ONE) not to be mistaken with UK brass-led progband 'ONE'. This ONE was officially released on Airplane label GRUNT in '72.
