It's not easy to say that a band is unlike any other and they are trail blazers in a dying industry and genre of music. Fair to Midland is an incredible mixture of bands that help shaped rock into what it is today. Whether its Muse, Dredg, Faith No More, System of a Down, The Mars Volta, Sunny Day Realestate, Incubus, or The Apex Theory; Fair to Midland is all these band wrapped in one with a refreshing twist.
Their album doesn't do them justice. Although a very strong and creative album, a FTM live show is where the band truly showcases their talent. Much like System Of A Down, FTM is a band that is VERY hard to follow. The bands hunger to emerge as a force in the music industry is unmatched by many unsigned bands today. They can easily steal the show from headliners. The potential of this band to be an anomaly in the music business is good, if cultivated properly.
The most astonishing thing about this band aside from the compelling on stage performance is the mesmerizing individuals that make it up. Those that know the band and the members that make it up will tell you (those of you not in the know need to figure it out and be in the know) just how humble and motivated this group is. Cliff (guitar), Jon (bass), Brett (drums), Matt (keyboard), and Darroh (vocals) are as similar as they are different. Individually they are just one piece of a future musical juggernaut, but together they form a musical machine the likes of which haven't been seen since Voltron (even though he had nothing to do with music, he was a crime fighting hero that was made up of 5 separate individuals. Brett is the pink one.)
For those of you that don't know this band, you need to know them and know them well cause they are going to be blowin' up soon, for those of you that do know the band and have been following, everyone will catch soon.

TEXAS BAND FAIR TO MIDLAND SIGNS WITH SERJ TANKIAN’S
SERJICAL STRIKE RECORDS
SERJ PLANS TO EXECUTIVE PRODUCE THEIR NEXT ALBUM
Dallas based quintet FAIR TO MIDLAND have just inked a deal with SERJICAL STRIKE RECORDS, the label headed by System Of A Down frontman, Serj Tankian.
The band that had been touted by Music Connection as one of the top 100 unsigned bands of 2005 can no longer carry that distinction in 2006, as they embark on their new journey of becoming heralded as one of the top signed bands for years to come.
Founded by members Andrew Sudderth (vocals) and Cliff Campbell (guitars) and later solidified by Brett Stowers (drums), Jon Dicken (bass) and Matt Langley (keyboards), FAIR TO MIDLAND has been working diligently with a D.I.Y. ethic that has generated an independently recorded and distributed album - inter.funda.stifle - and tours throughout the United States in support of it. FAIR TO MIDLAND are a unique musical force that you will be hearing more buzz about and new music from in the months to come.
With a sound that has been described as a “…mutant offspring of Rush, Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, The Mars Volta, Gary Numan and Pantera; grown up and having run off to start their own volcano-worshipping doomsday cult in the desert.” (Rob Gary, The Indie Scoop), FAIR TO MIDLAND have crafted a live show that is as invigorating as it is enlightening by fusing visceral energy and amazing musicianship that has gripped all that have seen them play, including Tankian.
After hearing inter.funda.stifle, Tankian was anxious to see the band perform and had the opportunity to do so January of this year at the famed Roxy Theater on the Sunset strip in Hollywood, followed by a second show 2 nights later in Malibu. It was seeing the live show that had him itching to be involved with the band through his label Serjical Strike as well as offering to executive produce FAIR TO MIDLAND’s next studio offering.
“They are one of the best live unsigned bands I have ever seen. Their songs are moody and dynamic, not dependent on one catchy beat or emotion to present their art,” expresses Tankian about why he signed the band.
Currently writing new songs for a future release on Serjical Strike Records, FAIR TO MIDLAND also have a few shows slated in their native state of Texas and into neighboring Oklahoma throughout April and May. Their performance at the Granada Theater in Dallas on May 12 is an unofficial celebration for the signing and will definitely be one that is not easily forgotten
