Since her debut album 'quiet girl with a credit card', in 1996, miller helped forge a path for independent australian female singer-songwriters such a thing barely existed. While so many have come and gone since, miller has stayed her own course, and her work today is as potent as ever. Her 2nd album 'as far as a life goes' earned her first aria nomination for best female artist. Her 3rd album 'car tape' (wifecd001) picked up three more aria nominations, and 'version originale' (wifecd003) continued that tradition with a third best female artist nomination. "morning" is a deeply emotional record, and its themes are not the stuff of teenage abandon or adolescent whims. But as ever miller has the rare gift to turn the darkest subjects into things of joy, optimism and transfiguration.
